The newest staff member at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas is not a human, but a humanoid robot that goes by the name 'Pepper.'
Pepper, the hotel's new Technical Ambassador, stands four feet tall and boasts the ability to greet guests and engage them in the Sky Lobby on the 23rd floor. The bot is capable of guessing a guest's age and mood and provides personalized interactions by picking up on facial, body and voice cues. As well as being able to pose with guests for selfies, dance and tell stories, Pepper is also on hand to answer questions and give directions.
The Pepper robot is now also being put to work outside of the hospitality industry in retail, service and restaurant environments.
