Chef Zac Young of PieCaken Bakeshop Created the New PassCaken Dessert
Katherine Pendrill — April 23, 2023 — Lifestyle
This year, Chef Zac Young of PieCaken Bakeshop wanted to give consumers a tasty way to celebrate Passover with his new PassCaken creation.
During Passover, cake is not usually eaten since leavened foods are not permitted. But Chef Young found a way to ensure a show-stopping dessert could still be enjoyed by creating a Passover-approved treat. To create this new cake, Young turned to his famous Piecaken, which is a pie/cake mashup, and gave it a few tweaks to make it Passover-friendly. The new PassCaken starts with a matzo-crusted coconut macaroon pie, topped with a flourless chocolate cake, and some raspberry mousse. The whole thing is then garnished with gilded chocolate and a sea salt matzo crumble.
It's worth noting that while the PassCaken is made with Kosher ingredients, the cake is not Certified Kosher for Passover, nor is it made in a Kosher facility.
