WOHA Designs the Pan Pacific Orchard with Garden Terraces
Amy Duong — November 2, 2023 — Art & Design
Architecture studio WOHA created the new Pan Pacific Orchard hotel in Singapore which is defined by a plethora of greenery. This features terraces that have plants and pools carefully cut into the building's structure to create something that seamlessly celebrates nature and captivating views from any floor level. Each terrace is dubbed a different name -- this includes garden, cloud, and beach. It is wrapped by guest rooms on both sides.
Director of WOHA, Hong Wei tells Dezeen, "Instead of one monolithic tower, we have three stacks of boutique-scale hotels that come together within one building, separated by sky terraces. This helps to bring amenities up in the sky and also frees up the ground space as a garden, which creates a better sense of arrival for guests. Green columns anchor each terrace and visually connect the four strata. Together with the landscaping on the terraces, the building replaces 200 percent of its site area with greenery."
