Hunt Hill Farm's charitable division, a New Milford nonprofit, is working to enhance outdoor accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges by importing all-terrain wheelchairs from Brazil. These wheelchairs, known as Julietti, are designed by Instituto Montanha para Todos and allow users to navigate nature trails with the assistance of two guides.
Enhancing outdoor accessibility for individuals, especially those with mobility challenges or disabilities, is crucial for promoting inclusivity and equity, encouraging social interaction, and allowing people to care for their health and well-being by engaging in recreational activities, exercise, and connecting with nature.
The Julietti wheelchairs, costing $5,700 each, feature a single-wheel design that facilitates movement over rugged terrain. The Silo at Hunt Hill Farm has already acquired one chair and plans to import more, working with local organizations to expand outdoor accessibility.
