The Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux or 'New Bordeaux Stadium' is a new 43,000-seater soccer stadium -- still under construction -- that will become the new home of French soccer team FC Girondins de Bordeaux. The stadium is being designed by noted architects Herzog & de Meuron and will host a wide variety of cultural events in addition to perform its primary role as Bordeaux's home stadium.
The Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux project aims to unite three fundamental elements -- the 'bowl' containing the game and its spectators, the concourse as a transition between the playing field and external surroundings and the whole project's entire appearance.
The stadium's seating area consists of a pair of superposed tiers divided into four sections and protected from weather elements by an elegant roof canopy.
