CNN is set to be the first news network to use news drones to assist in its reporting operations. Having been granted the necessary permissions by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), CNN is set to begin experimenting with these drones in the production of video content. CNN's use of drones is set to inform FAA drone policy going forward.
CNN's Senior Vice President David Vigilante said the network's aim is to "get beyond hobby-grade equipment and to establish what options are available and workable to produce high quality video journalism using various types of UAVs and camera setups," says CNN Senior Vice President David Vigilante.
These news drones may become trailblazers and contribute to the creation of a new aerial ecosystem where drones buzz around freely undertaking various tasks.
