This collection of eco-conscious clothes was designed in a collaboration between Heron Preston and the New York Department of Sanitation.
The unlikely collaboration came to be after the designer witnessed a plastic bag in the ocean off the coast of Ibiza. Thinking about the growing vapidity of clothing consumption and its increased focus on churning out new styles that quickly go to waste, the designer decided to create a collection that is entirely made from donated and upcycled clothing. With the help of the New York Department of Sanitation, the resulting eco-conscious collection features urban styles that reference the past while looking towards the future.
This environmentally friendly clothing collection works to send a powerful message about the downfalls of the fashion world and its current lack of focus on changing its production methods.
