South Korean automotive giant Hyundai has launched the fourth year of its 'Re:Style' upcycled fashion platform, with the 2023 iteration of the initiative calling on the talents of fashion designer Jeremy Scott to create a couture collection made with automotive waste materials.
This particular couture collection makes use of a wide assortment of fabrics and components from Hyundai's electric vehicles, ranging from windshield wipers and tail lights to seat belts and even wheels.
This unique couture collection has been on display at the Re:Style exhibition at Seongsu Ap Again in the South Korean capital of Seoul.
Given the fact that there are often stereotypes and limitations placed upon what is possible with upcycled and sustainability-minded fashion, it's apparent that Jeremy Scott's creative reimagining of automotive deadstock is a fine accomplishment that aims to generate dialogue and ideas around how discarded industry materials can be given new life.
