Having a drink at a bar or enjoying a meal at a restaurant will look a little bit different as businesses implement new ways of operating to protect public health and the new normal for restaurants is already being implemented. In Amsterdam, Mediamatic ETEN is a waterfront vegan restaurant that's inviting guests to dine within individual outdoor greenhouses. The enclosed glass structures are just large enough to accommodate groups of two to three diners, which helps to keep gatherings small.
Where possible, restaurants may rely on outdoor dining experiments to ensure that both patrons and staff have enough space to continue observing social distancing. As Mediamatic’s founding partner Willem Velthoven says, "This was one of the most feasible ideas from a large list of ideas we had when brainstorming. We have other, bigger greenhouses, but using them depends on how everything ends up going."
