Finding a needle in a haystack is a figure of speech that was recently put to the test by performance artist Sven Sachsalber. Over the course of 24 hours, he picked through a mountainous pile of hay in order to see how long it would take to find the elusive needle. As it turns out, it only took his 18 hours to find the sucker.
Appropriately titled 'Looking for a Needle in the Haystack,' the live performance was set in the Palais de Tokyo. Galerie Rianne Groen accurately states that Sven Sachsalber's work is “often funny, often serious and sometimes both,” and emphasizes that they "have a universal poetic element that does not need much explanation.”
