Sneaker company New Balance introduced the NB Power Hitter Challenge in collaboration with baseball training service Zepp, adding a level of gamification to the swing analytics service.
Zepp uses a smart swing sensor on the end of a traditional baseball bat to convert swing analytics into measurable data, that, when paired with a smartphone, helps users assess their baseball skills. Through the collaboration with New Balance, the app now allows for a digital competition to ensue between users. Users can now compete in swing challenges, earn achievements and track their progress on a leader board.
The company notes the fusion of new technology with real-world action encompass Zepp's vision for their future.“Adding gamification into the fold not only is the future of Zepp training devices, but it also illustrates the vision Zepp -- along with New Balanc -- has to help elevate users’ performance.”
