Nadia Luongo Makes Magnificent Portraits Out of Meals
Davina Sinnatamby — April 2, 2014 — Lifestyle
Naples, Italy-based artist Nadia Luongo uses food to create beautifully creative works of art. She started her career in bio-medical engineering but eventually realized her true passion was making food art.
Her works vary from cartoon icons to animals. She’s even done a few celebrities. Her style sometimes involves completely making the art out of food and sometimes she draws portions of the portrait and fills in the blanks with food to make humorous duel-medium portraits. Some examples of her work include Jessica Rabbit made out of strawberry paste, Mick Jagger made out of brown sugar and turtles made out of kiwis with their shells made out of the kiwi skin.
It just goes to show that maybe when we were little and our parents told us not to play with our food, they were wrong. Art can come from anywhere -- even meals.
