This gorgeous moss planter is the result of a collaboration between Azuma Makoto and Unitika Ltd., and in these images it's showcased at the Tokyo Fiber Sensware exhibition at the 2009 Milan Furniture Fair.
The biodegradable moss planter is effectively an organic carpet, and the plant-derived fiber on which the moss grows will naturally decompose in about 10 years, leaving only water and carbon dioxide.
Implications - Companies or brands that invest their money and attach their name to products or presentations that feature organic or environment-friendly concepts stand to benefit from the favorable press coverage associated with benevolent companies that seek to improve and preserve the environment. These companies can create long-term relationships with the eco-conscious population and organizations by creating original products.
