The NBA is partnering with an Australian tech company called Unbnd, the partnership will work to add mixed reality broadcasts. The enhanced broadcasts will be presented to NBA TV subscribers located in Australia as well as Singapore. To launch the new system Unbnd has created a novel platform titled Missing in Action, MIA. MIA will show enhanced content using AR as well as VR to provide a user experience that was previously unavailable.
Implementing mixed reality broadcasts will immerse users in a 360-degree 'virtual theater.' The VR will display live game statistics as well as interactive content, overtop live NBA games.
The partnership looks to push viewing options forward and to engage NBA fans in ways that have not occurred to date.
