Mimica Touch is a food expiry label or cap that includes an innovative gel filling that can detect whether or not a food product is fresh or not.
When in contact with a food product, the label or cap will change in response to the food's temperature and level of freshness. The gel will either stay smooth or become bumpy in texture. If it stays smooth, the food product is deemed fresh and safe to consume. If it turns bumpy, the product is likely past its expiration date and is no longer good to eat.
Mimica Touch's team spoke to the innovation, stating "Mimica’s mission is to radically reduce scarcity and unnecessary waste by becoming the new standard for freshness information for industry, consumers, and communities all around the world."
