Rob Pruitt Brings Awareness to Migration with Migration Moving Blankets
Amy Duong — March 5, 2019 — Art & Design
Rob Pruitt is an American artist and he introduces the Migration Moving Blankets created for moving furniture pieces. It is adorned in bold patterning quilt designs and really spotlights the topic of migration and the many perspectives that it comes with. It is designed for retail label Yoox and made its debut at the Nomad design fair this year. It features 40 limited edition quilt designs in total and is designed to carefully wrap around furniture for protection during moves.
Each blanket is complete with a repeating pattern in pixelated forms representing flying birds with a border that repetitively reads "moving to Canada," the artist's last name and the year that the blanket was created and printed out. Notably, each piece is numbered and signed by Pruitt. His approach of the design aims to highlight "the complexity of migration."
