Designer Patricia Urquiola designs the new Mater tile collection for Mutina, defined by organic visuals that are inspired by graphics from past eras. The looks highlight the 50s and the artisanal ceramic by Vietri. Mater is derived from the word 'matter' and it is meant to reflect how the earth used that to create the tile's base.
The capsule is made up of a series of tactile designs with a shared glossy enamel throughout. Urquiola explains that “The collection started from the floor of the Mutina meeting room. Massimo and I strongly wanted to reinterpret that handcrafted tile. So we started this empathetic journey, made up of a lot of research and discoveries. In fact, inside Mater there is technology, experimentation, visual craftsmanship.”
