The Marshall Islands Soccer Federation has just introduced its national football jersey which is designed with the help of sportswear brand PlayerLayer. It was created by Matias Otero and the product is dubbed the 2030 No-Home Jersey. The main purpose of this sustainable design is its visual metaphor to bring awareness to the existential threat of the rising sea levels and the impacts this would have to the Pacific island nation.
The commercial director of the Marshall Islands Soccer Federation Matt Webb explained to Dezeen, "This jersey serves a dual purpose – celebrating the unique and wonderful parts of our nation such as its wildlife and traditions while reminding the governing bodies that they must act quickly to help us get recognised. If global warming continues at its current rate, our nation may be faced with irreversible damage from rising sea waters and permanent flooding."
