NARS Cosmetics recently teamed up with Facebook to produce the first 360-degree makeup video. Since its debut last September, Facebook 360 Video has been used as part of collaborations for GoPro, Discovery and even Star Wars. Now beauty brands are getting in on the action by using the tool to improve video tutorials.
In the 360-degree makeup video from NARS, the viewer is situated in the center of the room. From this vantage point, they can look at different screen that capture NARS Lead Makeup Stylist Janice Daoud’s application. If viewers toggle the video, they can also see information about number of steps involved and the products used. They can even zoom in or skip through certain parts of the tutorial if they wish.
The technology not only improves the quality of beauty content, but it also adds an interactive element that heightens the viewing experience.
