Plant-Based Denim Jeans

Levi's Launches a Plant-Based Version of the Popular 501 Denim Jeans

Levi's has recently unveiled a significant milestone in sustainability with the introduction of its first 501 jeans made with a minimum of 97 percent plant-based materials. This development showcases the potential for the fashion industry to reduce reliance on synthetic materials derived from fossil fuels and emphasizes the importance of utilizing renewable resources in garment production.

The jeans are made with 100% OCS-certified organically grown cotton, plant-based indigo sourced from Springfield, Tennessee, and a 100% cotton internal pocket bag decorated with a plant-based black pigment.

By embracing plant-based materials and investing in sustainable dyeing processes, Levi's is leading the way in advancing environmentally friendly practices within the fashion industry. The new women's 501 jean is available in both a dark and light wash for $128 USD. A men's version of the same silhouette will follow in the coming weeks.
