Material science company Pangaia made the first-ever denim jacket made of NuCycl, a fiber from consumer textile waste. The denim jacket was made from textile innovations company Evrnu’s NuCycl, which Pangaia crafted from. Pangaia’s chief innovations officer Dr. Amanda Parkes spoke about the innovation of Evrnu’s NuCycl, saying: “We have been on a long journey together as partners and we are delighted to be bringing out our first product together, demonstrating the extraordinary potential for superior quality from recycling technologies.”
This dark blue denim jacket has a relatively simple style, featuring loose cuffs on the sleeves. However, the right side chest area displays the materials used to make it. The specific material of the denim jacket is made of cotton textile waste rather than utilizing materials that are environmentally dangerous such as fossil fuels. In addition, NuCycl can be recycled five times without losing the quality of the material. The denim jacket will be available on February 16 and is priced at $400.
