Kengo Kuma's 'Kusa' is a luxe take on the traditional Japanese tea set which the Japanese architect and designer made for Georg Jensen. The ornate, solid silver set includes a tea leaf pot, a stirrer, a spoon, a tray, and cups. Released in only 11 limited edition sets, the product is set to costs as much as a luxury sedan.
In Japan, the tea set has a rich history that dates back as far as the culture itself. But while ancient tea sets might understandably demand large sums if only because of their historical value, the new Kusa tea set has value for different reasons. Firstly, it's hand-crafted out of high quality silver and bamboo. Secondly, Kengo Kuma is himself in high demand, having already been selected to design Japan's main stadium for the 2020 Olympics.
