Karma Exchange is a daily deals website with a social giving component -- for every item they sell, they donate a portion of the proceeds to a charity or cause.
“Every time you purchase a Karma Exchange promotion, you are helping someone climb out of poverty," the website explains. "You can witness the impact you make by watching each project unfold on the Karma Exchange website. The more you save, the more you give, the more good karma will find its way back to you.”
Karma Exchange, which is based in Vancouver and was founded by Shannen O’Brian, lets business owners create a special "Karma" product or service that will help fund an organization working toward ending poverty.
For example, instead of paying $60 for the regular price of a Flowerbox bouquet for Valentines, Karma Exchange users can buy it for $30, and know that in addition to getting a great deal, they will also be paying for girls in Ghana to go school. To top if off, when Karma Exchange users share a deal on Facebook and/or Twitter, they company also donates $1 to a cause like the Sanga Primary School Water Project.
They also have Karma Auctions, sponsored events (like Vancouver Fashion Week) and a Date Night package that lets couples support a cause while going for dinner and a movie, followed by a night in a hotel.
