KAPKAR.SF-P7S, designed by Studio Frank Havermans, is a temporary creative space for Stitching Fabrikaat's BOUWLAB, or Building Lab. The pavilion, with its swooping columns and raised based, looks like a futuristic rendering of a navy vessel, which is fitting considering its location on the banks of the river running through Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Because the installation is a temporary workspace, KAPKAR.SF-P7S has been designed to be assembled and taken apart quickly and with minimal equipment. The columns are the only pieces of substantially heavy material, with the spaces between those trusses being made up of lightweight corrugated PVC sheets and the base consisting of pine timber. On top of the ease of setup and teardown, these materials lower the overall budget of the project.
