Lost Spirits Distillery's latest launch introduces Japonisme, an American rum made from 100% Kokuto sugar. This prized culinary ingredient has been made in Okinawa since the 17th century and it's different from refined sugar because it's prepared by drying boiled sugarcane juice into darkly colored bricks. According to the internationally claimed distillery, ''Japonisme' is, to our knowledge, the only rum produced from Kokuto in the United States and possibly the only rum made from this very special ingredient outside Japan."
Thanks to the use of Okinawa black sugar, Japonisme rum takes the senses on a journey with notes of wet wood, fallen leaves, aromatic black cherry, cedar, caramel, vanilla, baking spices and dark chocolate. The first Japonisme batch is limited to about 1,000 bottles and this exclusive spirit will be available to Lost Spirits Distillery shareholders and critics first, followed by the public.
