Nike is set to launch a new Air Force 1 Low colorway that features and celebrates Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. Previously, Nike had celebrated Jackie Robinson's legacy in different sneaker models in its catalog, like the Dunk Low and Air Griffey 1 Cleat. One of Nike's most popular sneaker models, the Air Force 1 Low, will feature designs based on his career and legacy.
One of the standout designs is the wording "42" in red on the lateral heel, which is his jersey number from when he played baseball professionally. There are also red color exposed stitches on the heel that mimics the stitching on a real baseball. The racer blue color is filled in on the Nike logo on the upper, the overlays, and the tongue. However, the tongue has the Brooklyn Dodgers team logo embroidered on it. Each sneaker's lace has a different year printed, with the right one saying "1947," representing the year he broke the color barrier, and the left saying "1956" to salute the year he retired. Additionally, the laces have wording printed with the saying "Change the World." The sneaker is set to release soon in the coming weeks for $120.
