This latticed Italian pavilion looks like a modern architectural green house. Designed by Nemesi Studio for Expo Milano 2015, 'The Nursery of Italy' is the host country's entry for the international competition. Expo Milano is a design competition dealing with themes of water, transparency, technology, nature and energy.
The urban forest is positioned to face the Piazza d’Acqua which represents the location of the state and government of Italy. The tree-like exterior surrounds the structure's central square. The interior of the Italian pavilion is exhibitionist and engaging with expansive views. The solar panelled roof generates renewable energy and provides a glass canopy shelter. The building also uses photocatalytic cement, which converts air pollutants into inert salts when it comes into contact with sunlight.
