The #IRL11K Competition Boasts a 11k Prize for Hosting a Virtual Event
Grace Mahas — November 12, 2020 — Marketing
IRL, the Gen Z social calendar app, is giving college students a chance to win $11,000 by hosting a virtual event through its #IRL11K competition.
The brand understands that the "college experience is about so much more than adding up course credits to be handed a piece of paper after two or four years. For many, it’s about leaving home for the first time, forging their independence, meeting the people who will stand next to them on their wedding day, finding the chosen family who may one day raise their children next to theirs."
The social calendar app IRL has seen firsthand how students are leveraging the app to connect with other students through virtual events like YouTube concerts, shoe drops, and Twitch streams. Therefore, the company is hoping to help the Gen Z community rejuvenate campuses with the new #IRL11K competition. To participate, students or school organizations simply have to create a group on IRL with at least 10 members, with applications due on November 20th.
The $11,000 prize is available to each campus nationwide, however, there are a minimum amount of votes required for events to win part of this prize, as well as a maximum of 3 events per campus, have the chance to win. All events submitted must follow the schools’ COVID guidelines and winners are responsible for organizing the event in the beginning of the spring semester.
