The new Instagram mute option now allows users to better tailor their feed's by temporarily keeping other user's content off their main feeds and Stories playlist. The new feature will bear a slight resemblance to blocking a user, as it will ask users to choose to mute posts, or both posts and Stories. Users that are muted will not know they are being muted and can be unmuted at any time. Muting can be done through a particular post on a user's feed as well as through a user's personal page.
According to Instagram, this new Instagram mute option will continue the platform's efforts to improve the browsing experience. Unlike blocking, the feature will still allow users to view a user's content and will even give notifications when a person tags you in a post or comment.
