This new Instacart pilot program is being run through a joint colalboration with The Rockefeller Foundation, the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and The University of Syracuse to support military veterans. The program is meant to better understand how medically tailored groceries can affect military veterans and comes in respose to the food insecurity and hunger that can be experienced by this demographic. The pilot program will include 250 rural, homebound and low-income veterans who have diabetes or hypertension along with limited access to food.
VP of Policy and Government Affairs Casey Aden-Wansbury commented on the Instacart pilot program saying, "We’re honored to play a role in this important work — because when veterans and military families have access to the food they need to thrive, we all benefit."
