The new Instagram Stories feature is catching on, and an enterprising Chrome developer is taking advantage with the 'IG Story' Chrome extension. Alec Garcia's extension allows users to check out Instagram Stories directly on their browser, rather than having to watch on their relatively small phone screens.
Functionally speaking, IG Story is slightly different than phone-based Instagram Stories. Users can click on profile pictures to bring up the Stories from the people that they're following, clicking or using the arrow keys to see the next image or video. However, the extension has no feature that allows users to skip to the next post from another user, meaning that they have to exit completely.
Nonetheless, allowing social media users to further engage on different platforms helps the strength of the social media sphere as a whole.
