Artist Ida-Marie Corell has taken a contemporary approach to the Paper Bag Princess with her latest creation. Corell designed a dress made entirely out of IKEA shopping bags. The dress she made consisted of 555 of the now-iconic blue bags, and as shown, the dress took up a massive amount of space in the studio.
People will be able to see the dress at the ‘Oh, Plastiksack!’ Swiss Exhibit in Gewerbemuseum. The concept behind the installation, as stated by Corell on her site, is as follows: “It’s viewed as a simple piece of trash, an ecological hazard, a symbol of consumerism, and a history-defining invention.”
The dress makes a big statement about where society is heading and how much is viewed as expendable.
