ID Genève Develops New Sustainable Packaging Solutions
References: idwatch.ch & designtaxi
ID Genève introduces its new packaging for the Circular S collection with the help of collaborative efforts of start-up company Notpla. Notpla specializes in sustainable packaging and together, the two highlight seaweed as the source. This is selected because seaweed is one of the most powerful elements to combat climate change as the biomass of seaweed can increase by 20% daily without the need of fresh water or fertilizer.
The new ID Genève packaging box is meant to biodegrade over time in nature within only four to six weeks once a consumer receives the product. It is also able to entirely dissolve in water and be used to fertilize houseplants as well. Nicolas Freudiger, Co-Founder of ID Genève states, “Our wish is to inspire the luxury industry to consider seaweed as an alternative to plastics for packaging and thus reduce the carbon footprint,”
