KLG Architects Designs the Hytte Riverview in South Africa
Amy Duong — October 25, 2024 — Art & Design
Local design studio KLG Architects designed the Hytte Riverview which is a house that overlooks a South African estuary. The Hytte Riverview is defined by its textured plaster walls which are done on purpose to reflect the rocky outcrops nearby. The thick walls form a beautiful texture and it is all nestled in the Rooi Els in the Western Cape.
The director of the project Jan Douglas shares the design process with Dezeen, noting "The design's dual nature – open and outward-facing on one side, solid and sheltered on the other – ensures that the home provides comfort, serenity, and a deep connection to the distinctive environment. It offers a sanctuary where residents can feel both protected and connected to the landscape."
