The male dominated sport of skateboarding can be intimidating for girls and women to pursue, but House of Vans London is aiming to encourage and empower anyone interested in learning the new skill, with women-friendly skate classes designed to educate and build confidence.
This month, 90 winners will be selected to participate in the skate workshop, which will be led by Vans' ambassadors. In addition to the lessons, the group of female-identifying boarders will receive a fresh pair of sneakers, and a group brunch at an underground cafe. This initiative is coupled with a retrospective photo series that explores influential women in skating, as well as a female-led street market for small businesses and independent vendors.
