Designers Patrycja Domanska and Felix Gieselmann from Vienna have created an elegant high chair, called 'Homage to Karl,' on which coffee house patrons can perch while enjoying their morning brews.
Presented at The Great Viennese Cafe exhibition at Vienna Design Week 2011, the homage to Karl chair features a wooden ladder as its base that sitters must climb in order to sit at the top. The designers have attached two boxes at the side of the chair -- one features an exterior of mirrors - on which sitters can place their beverages or rest their arms.
As for its name, the Homage to Karl chair was designed as a tribute to Karl Kraus, an Austrian author. Apparently Kraus wrote much of his work in Viennese cafes while observing others and their activities.
