This new and improved hockey puck, titled The Aalto Puck, was designed by the Nordic Society for Invention and Iittala. The design is triangular in shape, and apparently does not bounce.
The design of the Aalto hockey puck is a "reference from Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto’s iconic 1937 vase," according to DesignBoom. The rest of the puck looks very similar to original pucks in terms of the material used, but the triangular shape is certainly new. One point that will interest hockey players with this puck, apart from the no-bouncing effect, is the random directions the puck will shoot when hit in a certain way. This could certainly make for some interesting games of shinny when winter hits and players take to the ice.
