Language education company Duolingo has teamed up with HBO's 'Game of Thrones' prequel series 'House of the Dragon,' to launch a new marketing campaign that will feature unique language-based activations on the Duolingo app. The activations will invite users to learn various Game of Thrones languages, such as High Valyrian.
The company worked with linguist David Peterson, who developed several Game of Thrones languages, to introduce 150 new High Valyarian words and 700 High Valyrian sentences on the app.
“This unique partnership around learning High Valyrian will enable fans across the globe to see how fun learning a new language can be while connecting closer with the world of Westeros,” said George Audi, head of business development at Duolingo in a press release.
Beyond these playful activations, Duolingo will roll out a series of out-of-home billboards that will feature High Valyiarn text. These cryptic billboards will then be placed in a variety of key international locations where they will likely garner significant buzz.
