The paintings in the Henrietta Harris ‘Hold Still’ Exhibit are beautifully warped. The collection was created by New Zealand artist Henrietta Harris. Her work has appeared in shows throughout Australia, New Zealand, London and New York in all different forms from canvas to clothing.
Harris uses watercolors and gouach on canvas to create these fantastical portraits. One would expect with the distorted nature of the characters’ faces the work to appear more disfiguring, however Harris provides a fresh perspective. Her use of bright colors alongside her classic painting techniques transform the somber faces in the portraits into something much more interesting.
Henrietta Harris’s work in the ‘Hold Still’ collection is currently being personally exhibited in Aukland until June 10th .
