Hearts and ARTICLE22 have teamed together to find a creative and thoughtful way to repurpose bomb bits from the Vietnam War; put them on jewelry. Though this seems like quite the task, and a somewhat strange one at first thought, artisans have been able to reuse these pieces to create a provoking and beautiful piece of jewelry that does some good.
“B-52s unloaded bombs over Laos, leaving behind 200 million tons of bombs, of which one in three did not detonate. Decades later, that third of still-intact bombs continues to disrupt Lao’s ability to progress beyond their war-ridden past,” the product information explains. Not only do these necklaces take bombs out of the area by way of dismantling, they also provide the funds necessary to clear the area of bombs entirely and provide income for artists; an initiative that really emphasizes the phrase “PeaceBomb” of ARTICLE22’s slogan.
