Chinese design studio One Plus Partnership has completed the design of the Haikou Gaoxingli Insun Cinema. It is defined by red bricks in a curved form which have a wavy surface inside of the cinema lobby nestled in the city of Haikou, China. It emerges from the floors and ceilings to create the reception counter, tables, and chairs.
One Plus Partnership speaks about the design process and notion behind the space, sharing "We wanted to create something related to the ocean because Haikou is surrounded by the ocean. But we also wanted to create something unique. We didn't want to use the colour blue like the ocean, so we decided to use brick for the theme of our design because bricks are made of sand, which lies on the beach."
