There is absolutely no way that a driver, pedestrian or fellow cyclist will not be able to spot this glowing cyclist jacket. Stylish and practical, it turns the wearer into a giant firefly. The entire back lights up with white LEDs to ensure maximum visibility when riding in the dark.
Designed by Will Verity for his capstone project in Product Design at Central Saint Martins College, the glowing cyclist jacket has been dubbed 'deimatic' for its ability to detect nearby vehicles so that the lights flash more rapidly as cars approach. This is achieved through proximity sensors. Visual News reports that "the concept was inspired by deimatic behavior, the set of physical responses that animals exhibit--such as quickly displaying eyespots or changing color – when threatened by predators."
