Vans has collaborated with designer Nicole McLaughlin on a special edition gardening-inspired lifestyle sneaker called the Slip-On VP VR3 LX. Nicole McLaughlin is a New York-based designer focusing on upcycling and sustainable fashion. Nicole McLaughlin spoke about the sneaker: "I've always loved the Slip-Ons and the traditional canvas upper. The idea of canvas made me think about vintage gardening bags, and it inspired me to make my own version, a functional gardening tote Slip-On."
The Slip-On VP VR3 LX is a part of the Vault by Vans collection, consisting of designs based on original ideas applied to Vans' existing sneaker models. The Slip-On VP VR3 LX is a combination of functionality and design. It contains storage pockets that can hold things such as gardening materials or work tools on the toe box. As for the fabric of the sneaker, the upper is made of organic cotton canvas with 50 percent recycled polyester bindings, and the insole is made of 25 percent biobased EVA foam that comes from plants. The sneaker's sole is a VR3Waffle sole with 60 percent sourced natural rubber. The sneaker also has Micole McLaughlin's logo on the tongue.
The sneaker has two colorways to choose from: white/green, which is inspired by the classic gardening culture, and brown/grey, which refers to workwear bucket bags. The sneaker will be available on March 31.
