American screenwriter Evan Daugherty recently collaborated with Maker Studio’ gaming and geek culture network Polaris, to create four series of live-action gamer-inspired short films called 'The Four Players,' that reinvents the classic and iconic gaming icon, Super Mario Bros. The four clips showcase the extremely dark and realistic counterpart of the characters in the game.
In Luigi’s chapter called ‘The Addict,’ Luigi appears in a drug addicts anonymous meeting and we learn that Luigi is desperate to keep up to his ideal brother (Mario), his failure to live up to his brother’s example leads him to sell a fire flower drug as a form of escape from his responsibilities and burden. However, Mario enlists for his help, sending a text saying, “she needs us.”
