The Futto is a Lightweight Therapy Tool to Help Users Walk
References: yankodesign
The Futto is a unique design by Yoshihiro Yamada for patients that are going through physical therapy and rehabilitation. It is essentially rubber wear that one can wear and is meant to help muscles relearn how to walk or assist the elderly with maintaining their mobility.
The Futto will 'replace' the muscles that are used for walking to alleviate tension and help strengthen the muscles. It is made up of a belt around the abdominal along with four rubber straps -- two straps that wrap around each leg. The front strap hooks around the toes and the back section is for the sole of the foot. When walking with it, it contracts on the sides and offers a sense of support whilst also helping with posture.
