foodora Canada recently announced the launch of a new on-demand food pickup service in order to complement their delivery service and offering a new form of convenience to Canadians in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The new pick-up service will allow customers the option to pick-up their orders at the selected restaurant. The new option provides further flexibility, while essentially becoming a pre-order app as well as on-demand delivery.
The expansion of the new service falls in line with foodora's mission to bring better food into the lives of individuals through simple means. Accessible via browser and mobile, the foodora Canada platform features a number of popular restaurants in the current three cities served. Highlights include Toronto's Flock, Montreal's Le Poké Bar, and Vancouver's Ramen Koika.
foodora entered the Canadian market in 2015, and soon after acquired local delivery app Hurrier. Shortly after, a rebrand united the two and reintroduced as 'foodora,' and since then the platform has launched in both Montreal and Vancouver. foodora is owned by Berlin-based Delivery Hero, who acquired it from Munich-based Rocket Internet in late 2015. foodora is currently active in over 6,500 restaurants across 10 countries.
