'Fake News Alert' is a Google Chrome browser extension that flags sites known for posting misleading or outright fallacious articles masquerading as fact.
One dangerous side-effect of the democratic structure of the internet is that there are no inherent checks and balances for claims that people can make. Anyone can pose anything as a fact, and if that link gets enough play, then people might start to believe it -- regardless of its veracity.
