Supernal, a Hyundai-owned spinoff company that specializes in electric aircraft, has showcased a prototype of the 'S-A2,' an eVTOL air taxi that could play a key role in the future of transportation.
The 'S-A2' is an eVTOL air taxi that acts as the successor to the S-A1 that was introduced back in 2020. What makes the new iteration of the eVTOL taxi different is the fact that it features a more streamlined frame that is aided by eight hanging rotors. Capable of attaining a top speed of 200 km/h, this particular aircraft is designed for shorter trips and is able to take off in relatively silent manner by generating only 65 decibels during its vertical takeoff.
Ben Diachun, chief technology officer of Supernal, stated that this prototype will eventually give way to a commercially available eVTOL air taxi.
