Behold the Umeda Sky Building, an architectural masterpiece that is not only a marvel from the outside, but houses one of the most fabulous escalators in the world.
The escalator in the Umeda Sky Building begins with a tunnel that looks like the beginning of an in-the-dark rollercoaster that you’d except would send you shrieking through the blacked-out paths on winding tracks.
Baraskit says the Umeda Sky Building “consists of two 40-story towers that connect at their two uppermost stories, with bridges and an escalator crossing the wide atrium-like space in the center.”
This is one escalator I don’t suggest trying to run backward on, but I do suggest journeying to the top if you’re ever in Osaka—the view ofo the Umeda district is said to be tremendous.
