Erbar Mattes Creates a Spacious Design for a London House

London design studio Erbar Mattes has completed a new home located in Wimbledon. It is defined by its timber framing that is created from three mono-pitched silhouettes that are joined by buff-brick cladding. The team was tapped to create a modern home with four bedrooms for the family -- it is a bungalow design as well.
Erbar Mattes speaks to Dezeen about the home, stating "The house draws its richness from a diversity of scale, light and view. The client's existing house had very low ceiling heights so we started exploring ways of creating generous rooms while maintaining the building’s footprint compact and away from the neighbours. Enlarging the building footprint would have reduced the size of the garden, so rather than expanding horizontally, the house maximises efficiencies in plan."
